Well, what another jam-packed month we have had full of fantastic activities where we have all had lots of fun and laughed a lot!

We started the month with a trip down memory lane playing lots of games including ‘Match the Sayings’, Bingo and taking part in some crafts and latch-hook. Cliff is working hard to make a cushion cover, so we look forward to sharing that with you when it is finished. We have also had some lovely and much looked forward to visits from our Pets as Therapy dog, Dusky who always puts smiles on our residents’ faces!

We have also continued with our regular Flexercise sessions for our residents who love to keep active. We use a mixture of dumbbells, resistance bands, balls, balloons and we even have a peddle bike that sits on the floor and allows the residents to peddle away. We have shared many memories of cycling in our childhoods, including the times we have all fallen off!

Later in the month, we had an exciting trip to the local skatepark where we spent time watching some skaters on the ramps and Cliff couldn’t help but have a go himself so we took him for a mini wheel on the skate ramp which he loved! He has also made a friend, Sam, who we all enjoy watching as he does impressive tricks and manoeuvres with his skateboard.

The #PostcardsofKindness campaign is still going strong, and we have now written to many people and received so many ourselves – it really is a joy to be a part of. Don’t forget you can join in yourselves by joining the Facebook page.

During our time together, Margaret has been making us smile by playing the piano. She used to play in her younger years and has recently taken it up again, telling us it is good therapy for her hands. She plays lovely tunes, and a favourite we all enjoy is ‘Hallelujah’. Jim also enjoys singing so often joins in and sings along. We have also had a visit from Sharon, who is a student from Taunton School and is a very talented pianist herself, so she has shared some of her playing with us too.

We rounded off the month by celebrating Joy’s birthday and she was made to feel very special with lots of bunches of flowers, cards and a lovely cake! Happy birthday, Joy, we hope you had a wonderful day!
