Reminiscing past times at The Firs, Taunton
A few of our residents have been taking a trip down memory lane. We have been looking through an atlas to find the countries they have visited and discussing what they did during their trip and who they went with. We also went through photo albums and talked about their loved ones. Very great memories, that will be forever treasured.
We have also been reminiscing with a game called “match the sayings” which is great for the memory. All the sayings in the game were remembered by all.
Eric has been enjoying taking a trip down memory lane with Jo. With Jo’s assistance, Eric has started to write an article called “War time school day”. We will post it on our social media page once it has been finished, Eric is hoping to have it published in his local village’s magazine called Link Up
Pam received some old newspaper clippings from her friend via the post of herself and her late husband Tony. They were regarding their bowls team. Pam really enjoyed discussing with Jo and telling Jo when she was made president of the bowls club.
We have also enjoyed looking through the book of Somerset. Lots of our residents remember certain towns and local villages that they have visited in the past
“I was from that village and I used to harvest from that field” – Eric
Valentines crafts at The Firs Care Home in Taunton
We have had so much fun starting to prep for valentines day. A group of our residents had fun painting some rainbow hearts. These were to hang on our light up blossom tree in the hall to show our love and support for all our key workers. We have also started to make some valentines cards for our loved ones too! Keep an eye out for the postie! We hope they bring a smile to your face and warmth in your heart, you truly are missed by everyone here at the firs!

Domestic fun
Keeping busy and active is great for your body and mind. Theresa loves to keep busy and has been enjoying helping fold the clean towels, hoovering. Teresa also enjoyed helping Jo look after the tuck shop and giving it a spring clean by wiping off all the shelves, keeping all stock wiped down and tidy on the shelves.
“Is there anything I can help you with? You know I like to keep busy” – Theresa.
