December is by far one of our busiest months. We’ve had lots of activities taking place as well as putting up all the decorations and Christmas shopping for our residents!

Carol Service

We have had the children over from both the Nursery and the School here in Llanyravon and have made cards, tree decorations, had a sing-along and played games etc. The nursery children also came over to sing carols for the residents’ which was lovely. We also held our own little carol service where we invited family and staff to join in and sing a few of the old classics. The residents also had musical instruments so they could play a tune or sing along.

Llanyravon Primary School

Llanyravon Primary School and ourselves were also in talks for a few weeks regarding them kindly offering to arrange presents to be bought from the children. We agreed on small items, and they delivered them a few days before Christmas by the box full – there was so many we lost count! These were given to the residents on Christmas Day, along with their gifts from us, here at the home.

Christmas Party

We also had a Christmas party for the residents and families in the middle of December, where we had party food, games and even a visit from some sheep brought in from our local farm! The children and residents really enjoyed this. One of our residents then dressed up as Santa and gave out presents to each child – he was in full character and made everyone laugh!

Festive Lunch

We also had a trip to our local pub, where 20+ residents were assisted over the road to enjoy a delicious Festive Lunch. This is done every year at Llanyravon, and the residents always love it.

Performances

The residents have enjoyed entertainers this month from millennium bell ringers, who sang an array of Christmas songs along with performing their brilliant bell ringing to get everybody in the Christmas spirit. We also had a singer come in on Boxing Day to perform for the residents. We also had another party for New Year’s Eve and had another entertainer booked for the evening; not forgetting, of course, our Christmas Fete which raised over £700 which we will be using for more lovely entertainers and activities!
