It’s been a month of birthday celebrations here at Crick which we have all enjoyed! Although current circumstances have put hurdles in our way, it has not stopped us from being able to celebrate with cheer. Joan’s 100th birthday saw us host a car park party where family and friends of Crick came along to sing along with us to the birthday girl. Even with social distancing rules in place and strong winds, this did not stop the joy and overwhelming emotions for our residents to see their loved ones from afar.
We then got to celebrate Joy’s 105th birthday where we held an afternoon tea party for Joy and her dearest friends. The ladies enjoyed some lovely treats that were freshly prepared from the kitchen staff.
We took time to celebrate VE DAY, it was lovely to watch the various celebrational programs on the big screen and be able to reminisce from days gone past.
Family and friends are a crucial part to our residents’ life and to enable them to have continued contact has been a priority focus for us as the activities team, from video calls, phone calls, writing and reading letters, emails and window visits. We have prioritised this and have been adapting our timetable to make sure these relationships have stayed strong. Many residents have learnt new modern communication skills and are becoming great at modern technology!
We continue our butterfly watching in the garden and have enjoyed great afternoons trying to spot the different varieties whilst working on our suntans. The weather really has been kind to us this month!
Until next month, please keep safe and well.
