June at Crick Care Home in Monmouthshire has seen us welcome our new Activities Coordinator, Stacey. Stacey is eager to get ‘stuck in’ with her new role. Stacey previously worked as a Care Assistant at Crick and already has a vast knowledge of what our Residents enjoy, with the bonus of our Resident’s being familiar with her.

Seren, our Activities Assistant, has continued with her pampering sessions. Seren makes sure our lovely ladies nails are manicured to perfection. She has also made sure that reminiscence sessions have happened, discussing past occupations and family life. Our Residents enjoy reminiscing so much. It is lovely to see their faces light up when they talk about the fond memories they have.

Karin, our hairdresser, has had her usual Thursday and Friday visits. Many of our Residents enjoy this. A few have often said how they feel like a new person after having their hair done.
This month we have spent more time in the garden. We love the sunshine but from the shade. Marilyn, in particular, has enjoyed being outside with her friends Joy and Dorothy. We have continued to enjoy garden visits with loved ones.

Here at Crick Care Home in Monmouthshire, we are also having indoor visits with the designated visitors. Many surprise visits have taken place this month. It has been lovely to see residents reunited with family. Many they have not seen in over a year!

Our new activity ‘grab and go’ table has been a fabulous addition to our lounge. The ‘grab and go’ table allows all staff to go and grab an activity to do with our Resident’s on quieter days. The table includes word searches, puzzles, knitting, colouring and craft. Our Residents have enjoyed this so far, and we hope to add to it over time.

We are now using a new activity provision called Oomph here at Crick Care Home in Monmouthshire! which has been a success so far! Stacey has been busy creating activity booklets for the ‘grab and go’ table. These include Wimbledon themed puzzles, and birds of Britain themed word searches.

In July, we are expecting a lively, fun-filled month. We will have a fundraiser going ahead which requires staff to cycle from ‘South to North Wales’. We will keep you throughout our journey. Please keep an eye on our social media for fun progress updates!

Later in the month, we have a second Activities Coordinator joining the team called Erin, who similarly to Stacey, also worked as a Care Assistant with us before embarking on this new journey.   All at Crick Care Home in Monmouthshire wish them every success in their department and have every faith that they will do a super job!
