As the new activities’ coordinator here at Crick, it has been a great first month for me with lots of new things happening and the great success of our official summer open day BBQ! It truly was a fantastic day filled with fun, laughter and joy where families, as well as our local community, came out to show support. The feedback has been both overwhelming and heart touching.

One of our relatives told us, “We had the most amazing family day since before I can remember, Being with my mum outside and being joined by so many relatives really has made a happy family memory for all of us to treasure!” One of our longest residents also said, “It was the best day and being with my wife and listening to live music was precious!”

Local performers came to showcase their talents for free, which helped us raise a grand total of £619.13 towards our activities fund! This will be spent on many things such as more fitness equipment following the great take off of our Move It Or Lose It group and a Christmas trip to a local pantomime for residents and their families, to name just a few.
We are now partnered up with the foundation years of our local primary school, Shirenewton and are in the Postcards of Kindness scheme, which has been incredible. We have received many postcards and have begun filling our world map display and returning cards to other homes within the scheme.

We also teamed up with the local Co-op Community Champion, Anne and as a result, we now have a mini shop brought into the home which the residents are loving as this has enabled them to be more independent. Anne has now become a regular visitor to the home and enjoys her visits very much. We as a family here at Crick are excited for Halloween and the many future plans we have coming up. Keep looking out for upcoming events, and we hope you will be able to join us!
